This really is about as good as red wine from Bordeaux gets. We’ve been tasting this wine during the course of November and cannot recommend it highly enough. With 12 years bottle age the tannins have mellowed revealing superbly complex and soft fruit, tobacco leaf and earthy, mineral tones. From magnum the wine needs an hour or two to open up but drinks superbly with a finish that lasts an eternity.

Another seriously tasty claret in a seriously silly bottle. These sized bottles bend dining room tables and you'll need a proper gathering (or a serious problem) to get through it in a sitting but this is really tasty claret indeed. From low yielding, old vines that produces wines that thorougly deserve Dominique Haverlan’s clever use of new oak. The 2005 is a cracking, well rounded wine that will live longer and be enjoyed from now too.
