Château Doisy-Védrines,the largest of the Doisy estates and a 2éme Cru Classé Barsac property. It has been owned by the long-established  Castéja family since 1946 (who also own Batailley and Trotte Vieille). It remains relatively little known by most wine lovers, due mainly to tiny production levels. The wines are renowned for their relative intensity and richness compared to Doisy-Daëne next door, but they are nevertheless far from being a heavyweight by the standards of the appellation. Petit-Védrines is their second wine and represents exceptional value.

Doisy-Védrines's 27 hectares of vineyards are situated on the highest plateau in Barsac and are planted with 80% Sémillon, 15% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. The grapes are picked in several "tries" and the yields are painfully low, even by Sauternes standards. Although they are entitled to the Barsac appellation, the wines are always labelled as Sauternes.
