The Vintner rolled out the big guns on Wednesday night in the first tasting at Harrisons in Balham.  An ‘intro to wine tasting’ featured a short sniff, swill and spit lesson for twenty four eager imbibers, most of whom struggled with the spit element.  Stars of the show, aside from Charlie and Tom of the Vintner and Stephen of Harrisons, included Pierre Sparr’s Riesling and Pesquier’s Gigondas. Eight different grape varieties, eight different wines, five different countries and twenty four tipsy tasters, all of whom professed to know a huge amount more about wine and how to taste it following a couple of hours with the Vintner.  RESULT we feel!
